“I approach every case from a client-centered perspective and aim to achieve outcomes that match my clients’ unique needs as individuals.”
Jonathan Ogline is an associate attorney with Plog & Stein, P.C., solely focusing on family law issues. Jonathan (“Jon”) works primarily out of the Plog & Stein North Metro office in Broomfield. While recently coming to Plog & Stein, Jon has been practicing family law in Colorado since 2014, primarily in the Denver metro area, but also elsewhere across the state. He represents clients in both simple and complex matters in all aspects of family law, including divorce, marital property division, spousal maintenance, child custody, child support, protection orders, grandparent rights, and all of the other numerous areas of the law that intersect with domestic relations issues.
Before entering private practice, Jon served as a law clerk in the Denver District Court, for two different judges. During his time as a law clerk, Jon realized the importance of family law cases and the personal impact they have on people’s lives. Recognizing this importance, Jon dove right into the practice of family law. Prior to coming to Plog & Stein, he gained experience with a couple of other Denver area family law firms. Over this time, Jon developed his skills as both a seasoned negotiator and litigator.
While no two family law cases are alike, Jonathan believes it is critical, in all cases, to get to know each of his clients in order to achieve the best possible outcome for them. Often, family disputes can be resolved through settlement, and he makes sure all reasonable efforts to do so are explored. However, when fair, healthy outcomes can only be reached through litigation, Jon doesn’t hesitate to fiercely advocate for his client’s rights in the courtroom. In his years of practice, Jon has encountered some of the most heart-wrenching and hard-fought child custody disputes, including severe cases of parental alienation. As a result, he has become adept at handling them with a focus on the long-term well being of the children and his clients.
Jon comes to Plog & Stein with a unique background applicable to some aspects of the legal field, having worked professionally for several years as a poker player, with a specialty in no-limit Texas hold-em. His many years of studying opponents, game theory, strategic thinking, analytics, brinksmanship, and everything else required to succeed in poker has made him adept at legal negotiation and well-suited for the pressure of high-stakes litigation. While playing poker, outcomes were germane to Jon, with his success impacting him. Today, the outcomes he seeks are much more important, while using these developed skills are for the benefit of his clients.
Jon was born and raised in a small town in Ohio. He subsequently spent 8 years in North Carolina, where he attended Duke University as a member of their NCAA track and cross country programs. At Duke, Jon obtained a degree in political science. He has called Colorado home since 2010, when he started attending law school at the University of Colorado School of Law. While working towards his Juris Doctor degree, Jon fell in love with the Colorado mountains and outdoor lifestyle, leading him to make it his permanent home. In his personal time, he enjoys spending time with family, friends, and of course the family dog, Poppy. With a background as an eagle scout, he enjoys outdoor recreation of all varieties, including hiking, golfing, camping, and especially skiing, when time permits.
