Laura Stein is one of the founding partners of Plog & Stein, P.C. and currently serves as the managing partner of the firm. Ms. Stein’s legal career started in 1997 clerking for long time, former probate judge, the Honorable C. Jean Stewart, in the Denver Probate Court. In 1998, Ms. Stein left that position to start her own firm, focusing primarily on probate matters, but also delving into family law, including divorce, custody, and child support cases. Having left her prior firm to form Plog & Stein, P.C. in 1999, Ms. Stein continued to focus primarily on probate matters, including wills and trusts, as well as domestic relations matters. With the growth of Plog & Stein, P.C. over the years, Ms. Stein has eased into the role of managing the business and financial aspects of the firm, as well as assisting with client relations matters. Though Ms. Stein currently maintains no caseload, she is always available to provide advice to clients and in-office support to our Denver family lawyers and staff.
Ms. Stein is a Denver area native, spending the first few years of her life here. While turning down multiple NCAA Division I scholarship offers for her accomplishments as a swimmer, Ms. Stein elected to return to her family roots and attended college at Tufts University in Boston, where she studied Clinical Psychology and Child Development. With a keen eye towards details and facts, Ms. Stein elected to go to law school. Returning to her family and Florida for law school, Ms. Stein attended Nova Southeastern University, outside of Ft. Lauderdale. During law school, Ms. Stein engaged in an internship with the Internal Revenue Service before graduating early in 1995. Having taken the bar exam in both Florida and Colorado, Ms. Stein is licensed in both states.
In her current role, Ms. Stein is also the primary point of contact should clients have questions or concerns regarding billing or financial matters. In her spare time, Ms. Stein enjoys travel, family, and volunteering for various educational, athletic, or school-related endeavors.
