W. Curtis Wiberg
"It is a humbling honor to be hired as one's attorney - an honor that motivates me to always do my best for each of my clients."
Curtis is a seasoned family law attorney, who brings over 20 years of legal experience to Plog & Stein, P.C. Curtis started his legal career in Iowa, in 1995, where he practiced until 2002. His many years of Colorado family law experience include dealing with all aspects of Colorado family law including divorce, custody, support, decree modifications, contempt, restraining orders, step-parent adoptions and paternity. Curtis derives a lot of personal satisfaction from helping his clients get through what is often a very disruptive and emotional chapter in their lives using empathy, confidence and competence. Curtis is equally comfortable in the courtroom or negotiating settlements for his clients. In representing clients, Curtis is always willing to take on a challenge. In doing so, he is always thinking outside of the proverbial box, constantly looking for legal arguments to aid his clients.
Now in his second year with Plog & Stein, Curtis has shown himself to be an exceptional attorney and a great addition to the team. In practice, he uses his decades of experience to benefit his clients, and the firm. In addition to handling divorce and custody cases at the trial level, Curtis also brings prior appellate level court experience to the firm. With that experience, Curtis handles family law appeals for Plog & Stein in situations in which an appeal is brought by the other side or in which one of our clients chooses to take the case to the next level. The core of appellate practice if brief writing, which Curtis takes extremely seriously. He understands that each word has significance when it comes to preparing a well written brief.
Though Curtis’ primary focus is family law, from time to time, he may be willing to handle certain misdemeanor criminal cases for clients, or on referral. Criminal law was one of Curtis’ practice fields prior to coming to Plog & Stein and the firm has embraced his ability to handle such matters.
Curtis grew up in Denver and attended Manual High School. After attending the University of Cincinnati for law school (where he met his wife Karen), he relocated to Iowa to follow a career opportunity for his wife. Despite a successful start to his own career in Iowa, Curtis and Karen were eager to have their daughter grow up with the presence of extended family around and moved to the Denver area in 2002, where they have resided ever since.
Curtis spent the first few years of his Colorado legal career working for a family law firm in Douglas County. He subsequently opened his own legal practice, serving clients throughout the Denver metropolitan area. Missing the team aspects of working with a firm, Curtis started with Plog & Stein, P.C. in January 2015.
As a long time Coloradan, Curtis is an avid fan of the Broncos and Nuggets, and also enjoys hiking, camping, golfing, movies, and spending time with family.
